i have a weird issue with my usb3 on core server as soon as i remove the gui i lose my usb3 ports
Did you come across that?
bty: streaming to core server with wtg in usb2 port, dac in usb2 and sounds pretty damn good
id like to get it on usb3 though.
Hi Nige, I went straight to core server install and bypassed GUI so I can not help you there.
I created 3 of 40Gb partitions on my 256 MB SSD in case I messed up but it went OK apart from the network driver issue.
If you do get core server working on USB3 I will be interested in following you on that path.
Cheers, Pearse.

Won't get to this for the next few days, but hopefully by the weekend. Need to do some reading to check up.

Am I correct in thinking that SSD sounds just as good as USB stick now?
Do or do not, there is no try

Have not seen any evidence posted yet Fran....sound like another get together might be needed to come to a conclusion when the dust settles, that is if it ever does with all the changes taking place lately!
Just waiting for JK to chime in soon with some other news that we all go after :-)

It seems from the jplay forum that SSD now sounds better than usb but the caveat was in one person's system. I wanted to ignore this but it seems compelling now.

download the server 2012 iso and mount it and follow these instructions its the link Fran posted for installing john doe w8

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/53 ... -disk.html

only difference is in this command C:\Users\Your Name\Desktop\imagex.exe" /apply H:\sources\install.wim 1 F:\

will give you core server, if you replace it with 2 it will install server with gui

Too much geekery going on here Gerry for anyone to notice your comment. Most of us are probably checking out the number 100 as it might be the key and make a significant improvement in SQ.
