Get it set up correctly. Get it level. Enjoy.

After a while consider new cart or whatever but for the first six months just get to know your vinyl again.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.

question 1:

bearing oil, bearing and such

where does one buy hp90 oil, syringes for measuring .8ml and new ball bearings?

There's a film of oil on the drive hub and ball, but not what you'd call a bath!

Should the ball roll smoothly in the drive hub's female end when inverted? i.e. I've removed the drive turned it upside down and placed the bb in it and rolled with my finger!

If it doesn't I assume a new ball bearing is required? or does it rely on a bath of oil between the thrust plate and the drive hub when its sitting normally?

here endeth the first question.....

next up baerwald projectors and vta

Good luck with your new tt! And......you're worrying too much! What are we 'audiophiles' like!!!!! By the way, there's not supposed to be a 'bath' of oil in the bearing hub!!!! Also, by my reckoning, a tt's bb would take century's to wear out unless an anvil was dropped on it ;) I'd take Ivor's advice if I were you and trust your ears (and eyes!)

Edit: I'm sure you've read the stuff about the deck and it's bearing over on the vinyl engine site?

I trawled through that lot alright....

thing is, I have time to kill with it.... as the cart was somewhat before the horse I have yet to pick up a phonostage, so I thought I might as well take the time now to do little jobs like re oil the bearing and pop on a new belt....!

The bearing is definitely not perfectly smooth...

Set up is very critical to sound.

You'll get ep90 in most motor factors. If there's a garage near you they would give you a cap full I'm sure.

The belt etc - eBay?

After that, cart alignment and vtf are next. Patience and perseverance are your friends!

its all nice and level, went to fit the cart and ..... f&^%&^%n' hell! the ruddy bolts are too short!!

they look like 2.5mm bolts, are there any requirements for material, the ones supplied appear to be straight up stainless steel?
