Coffee help needed

Post by markof »

I'll be back and forth to Dublin (Donnybrook) for the foreseeable future.
Where can I buy decent, roasted coffee beans and a burr grinder (for an aeropress) in Dublin?

Coffee Angel in South Anne Street would be worth a visit for both.

Good grinders can also be bought from http://gaggia.ie/machine/gaggia-mdf-grinder/. I get my beans from Nicks Coffee in Ranelagh, not far from Donnybrook. I can't think of anyone in Donnybrook doing fresh roasted beans... you'll get half decent pre-packed in Donnybrook Fair I suppose.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.

In Donnybrook itself I can only think of Donnybrook Fair, but I wouldn't be 100% sure what level of bean you'll be getting there.

Up the road in Ranelagh there's a place that Ivor knows, and then you can pop in and see Ivor while you're at it, almost certainly leaving with a case of wine in the process.

The highest-end coffee place would probably be 3FE (up the canal from Donnybrook, easy to get to). That's coffee geek nirvana right there.

Bald Barista is another possibility.

Edit: Ivor got there ahead of me!

I'll second 3FE

Well worth the trip from Donnybrook (every morning if needs be.....)
Brass Bands are all very well in their place -
outdoors and several miles away....

Indeed I'd third 3fe but it is a bit of a walk from Donnybrook. A tad pricey too but the quality is certainly there.
