they look close alright but if the two usb3 sticks where on the outside i think youll get the dac cable in one of the centre ports

Maybe we should open a thread "Money no object build a dedicated Audio pc"

That's what the Jplay thread is for "high end dedicated audio PC" :) but hey have started talking about quantum chips & Blackbodies now - after the sonic harmonisers, it is getting too ridiculous for me

im just after reading that, its gone a bit mad, there wont be many going out to buy all that stuff, im skeptical about most of it find some other bits almost unbelievable.
only other thing is once i believed all cable sounded the same once it reached a certain standard until i heard the differences myself, maybe its the same here
i dont think ill be hearing any of that stuff any time soon ill just have to make do with more usual stuff.

Yea, I know but I find it hard to believe that something placed in the room (not acoustic baffles or room treatments) can have an effect on the sound - the names also are a real turn off as they try to tap into esoteric physics concepts - "Quantum chips" "Black bodies" - give me a break! I feel that Jplay is in danger of losing all credibility if they continue to post that sh1t

if that were the case either no listeners would be allowed in the room or may have to dismember a limb or two to get ultimate SQ,
it really is quite funny, but i doubt its going to do the business any favours as id imagine most people will consider this as rubbish

Found a site in the uk that ships the teddy pardo. Unfortunately the price comes in at €350 before postage. Will check it out but it is making the supply very expensive. Might be more worthwhile chancing the postage route from israel. Think I will need to hear this before going any further. It would make the zuma more expensive than I would have liked.

If you seen what is inside it Tony you might definitely be put off by the price, just a 16v SMPS and a little board with a few components!!

But the main thing is that is works, and works really well, you can borrow it for a few days and make your own mind up when you complete your build.

Thank you thank you Pearse your willingness to open these things up has cured me of my moment of madness. Checked out the price including delivery it is £310.15 so about €375-80. Pico will be circa €50 so coming in at €430. Will mull over it as the parts are due this week but no sign of any case being available with plex so have time to ponder. Will need to revisit the cost as it comes in at €300 more with the pardo. That is a lot for such a small power supply that seems to be a smps with a box of tricks attached. It is costing the same as the mobo, chip and 8gb of ram. It would bring my build to €1270 or thereabouts.

I noticed some talk on the jplay forum about a ppa USB card that seems to be regarded as being very special. Much better and cheaper than the SOTM one.

Tony, before you jump on that USB card be aware that it might have no benefit with a battery powered DAC such as the Ciúnas - I believe the SOTM had no real benefit but I might be wrong?
