Barenboim's 1st Beethoven Piano Sonata cycle on EMI for less than a tenner?

beautifully packaged too and an utter steal at that prive...
any idea what his Mozart is like, I'd have have thought he'd be a bit, I don't know, bombastic, for Mozart...?

Re: The Bargain Thread!
jaybee... his Mozart is actually very underrated, and is in many people's top 3.... both his Sonata and Concerto box-sets are worth owning, in fact (I own both). He seems to be in a minority as a pianist in that whereas he is principally known for his Beethoven, I think he really does also have a fine grasp of the Mozartian language... so, go for it.jaybee wrote:

I wouldn't post anything in the BT if I didn't think it was well worth the money.
Re: The Bargain Thread!
Just a heads up for those interested.... I know that Berglund's Sibelius set is well loved on here, but has been OOP for a few years... well, it's just been re-issued by EMI and is now available for a tenner...
