See this link John,

I think the gateway and DNS should be the ip of the "other" PC in each case:

http://www.networking.windowsreinstall. ... onnetwork/

Also, not every network card will support automatic crossover and you may need a real crossover cable for that to work

[quote="Fran"]Well, I just pulled the trigger on the i7 3770 processor - best I could find was 264.89 on german ebay for new but tray packed so without the cooler etc. Seems the best deal I could find.

I had a look there as well but saw it was missing some bits and wasnt sure if they were needed or not (fan and some other part) but seems processor is sufficient. Can you post the link. I feel like the russians falling well behind in the arms race and need to start getting some scud missiles to start assembling my defences. I reckon I will have no US until I get an audio pc so better start. I have decided to go for the Plex H5S case with the pico supply. Will get the motherboard and then wait for further instructions from JK on the W8TG or SSD with rechargebable batteries before going further.

Yes, good point Nige - I was naively assuming that when I set ethernet port IPV4 settings on WTG & then used it on the NUC it would pick them up but of course you are correct, doh!

I've no USB keyboard, only a PS2 connector version. I'll see if I can sort it out tomorrow?

I always use the windows built in keyboard and a USB mouse for working on the audio PC, connected by dvi to the tv of course.
Found myself using the windows keyboard quite a lot for debugging so dropped a shortcut on to the desktop.

Ah, good tip, Pearse, I forgot it had a built in keyboard - cool, I might just get this sorted tonight

Here's the auction I bought from:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... OC:US:3160

The guy has been on already looking for my address etc and wondering about a street number - good luck finding one of those around here!! Note that it wouldn't show up in a ebay search of europe, I had to actually go to ebay.de and search. Would be worth looking at .pl, .nl and so on to see what else is out there. There was another guy with some for sale that had shipping of a tenner, bringing total cost to 260, but he only took bank transfer and no paypal protection. Having said that he had 100% feedback. I wouldn't mind a bit of german - google translate has already been pressed into service.

Realistically Tony - I'd say hang on for a while. In a few weeks time it is likely that there will be a few builds out there to compare against Pearses' certified zuma and the picture might have changed again. There will the NUC with John, nige's builds and then mine with varying degrees of closeness to the original zuma formula. I think mine is probably closest, followed by nige, then Johns. By having a listen to all 3 it might be possible to find out what plays a bigger role in SQ.

We're in for an interesting time ahead.

no point explaining to people the lack of postal system in ireland, i usually tell them to send it to ireland with that address on it and they will know what to do with it from there.

germany is one of the best value places in europe for pc parts, and theres very little bull5h1t with them for the most part. only disadvantage is postage times vary from 4 days to a couple of weeks.

ill have a build by end of week, real interested in johns especially if he does those battery power supply mods,

my guess is that there will be little or no difference between our builds unless john and frans power supply mods make the difference.

from what i seen so far cpu requirment isnt our biggest worry, 8gb ram is plenty, properly configured bios/windows8, the network cards and drivers could be the dark horse in the race

Got my NUC working - now looking to optimise it.
Dumb question, I know but in Jplay streaming mode (2PC) where do I set the Ultrasize register - on ControlPC/AudioPC or both??
The answer will save me looking through the Jplay forum whose search function is not good.
