What are you listening to?
Re: What are you listening to?
I have listened to three different versions of Petrushka lately and this was definitely my favourite.

Re: What are you listening to?
I continued my Tchaikovsky odyssey with the much maligned 1812 overture....
I think that it is a great work.

Re: What are you listening to?
Two versions of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, first with Szeryng....
....and then Oistrakh....
I have enjoyed listening to that work for nearly 40 years now!

Re: What are you listening to?
Something completely different....
The slow movement of the Concerto en Sol is a beautiful, wistful affair.

Heard the first movement in the car on the way home, had to listen to it in the comfort of the man cave:

My favourite is the Bernard Haitink/London Philharmonic Orchestra recording.fergus wrote:

Re: What are you listening to?
That's interesting. I didn't really like Harnoncourt's Haydn or Schubert recordings with the RCO, perhaps he fared better with Dvorak? The Ninth is a lovely work.Diapason wrote:Heard the first movement in the car on the way home, had to listen to it in the comfort of the man cave:

Re: What are you listening to?
Johann Sebastian Bach
English Suites 1, 2 & 3
András Schiff - piano.
Wonderful music, beautifully played, this is about as good as it gets.

Re: What are you listening to?
I haven't got anything to compare and contrast with, but I think it's a very fine performance indeed. It sounds fresh but simultaneously moving.Seán wrote:That's interesting.
