Debussy - Nocturnes (Andre Previn, Ambrosia Chorus/London Symphony Orchestra, EMI)
Re: What are you listening to?
I was thumbing through some vinyl trying to choose what to play earlier and I chose this one as I was reminded of a recent conversation about performances from a different age....
These are excellent performances. The touch was very light in the Mozart and the extra weight in the body of the orchestra gave the Handel slow movements a certain gravitas. I suppose quality of conductor and ensemble is a timeless factor irrespective of the age of the performance.
