Ken, what version were you using when I heard your system a few months ago? Sounded pretty good to me....

Hi Tom, probably something like version 3.3 maybe. The sound has come on in leaps and bounds since. Take a trip round anytime you're free and I'll demo both methods(1 or 2 PC).

Just an update re hibernate,Total Commander and Windows 8. I can't explain it but 7 tracks playing now and laptop doesn't hang. Settings are all the same so not sure if some windows 8 update has stabilized this or is it just the usual computer software IT thing were nobody can figure out what was wrong and what happened to fix it.

Tony great stuff and well done .
Try getting your V5 Beta from the guys and go here ( http://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/j9Nf ... 4hvXmit3Zg )
to download the recommended version of Foobar and ASIO component. Run Jplay Settings to set up.If you install Foobar do a FULL install, put the ASIO component in the components folder in Foobar and enjoy V5's fabulous sound.

Si Signor Ken, All working well here why would I want to rock the boat and go back to gnashing teeth time when you can sort out jplay5 for me??
BTW Laptop was back to doing the same thing again this morning.Bombing out during one track. This morning I fired up the music on the right hand side and jplay mini on the left hand side of Total Commander menu. Last night it was the other way around. I swapped around again and all is well. i.e. playing multiple tracks in full hibernate. Sound is fantastic but I also got a new(secondhand) pair of audiosmile supertweeters in the post which really add a huge lift to the top end. Just need some botox for me now and some other products and all will be perfect.

Ken Has there been any progress on the ultimate standalone PC for music playback on JPLAY forum? Everything seems to have gone quiet on that front it looks like jplay5 will not make the xmas market

V5 is nearing release (I think) after about 15 Beta versions and 8 RC(release candidate) versions. Best results are with 2PC model where the MusicPC does nothing but play music and the streamer PC does all the preparation and streams the music in chunks to the other. It's also possible to play on a single PC and for 2PC the network can be wired or wireless. The operational method is totally different from V4.3 and the MusicPC doesn't need large amounts of extra RAM. The sound quality is exceptional and brings performance from existing gear that didn't seem possible.

Hate That!!!
I am always out of the country when a new release comes along........

Looking forward to testing it out when I get back next month Ken, I have been following the JPlay forum with great interest and it seems that there is another substantial sound quality improvement on the way...is there no end to the man's genius!!

Best €99 I ever spent for my listening pleasure <('-')>

Finally got JPLAY 5 beta working on my windows 8 laptop. Painful getting it up and running. Questions for Ken. Is Total commander dead in the new one or is it an option? Have you experimented with disabling services? Dont want to even think about it at the moment but I reckon this laptop which is a HP has lots of useless processes working away to slow the laptop down.

It so much better than delicating adjusting weights on a turntable if frustrated here one can just bash the keyboard with impunity.
