I've been enjoying that too! Having some of the Diabelli variations by other composers is a nice idea.

Been thinking about this recording for a while - just bought it with the last of the christmas money from Qobuz (24bit master).
BTW Qobuz have about 30 label samplers available for free download.

2 of the finest Strauss waltzes recordings ever don´t feature the Vienna Philharmonic: A DG Ferenc Fricsay/RIAS Symphonieorchester recording, and this glorious RCA disc with Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony. At the time of this recording, circa 1960, many members of the Chicago Symphony were War emigres from Hungary, Austria and Germany, and they certainly knew how to waltz.
