Re: Recent Purchases
Huge influx of baroque CDs at the local Oxfam. Only one disc that I felt I needed to add to my collection though...

Re: Recent Purchases
Unlike the recent Neschling recordings of this composer's music on BIS, the technique used here
is quite simple, mainly a two-mike thing I'd guess, perhaps not entirely but more like you'd hear the
work in concert than on a recording where the engineers have been too intrusive.
Karabtchewsky really is the right man for this repertoire. He compares well with Carl St Clair but manages
to get terrific atmosphere from quieter bits: the 2nd movement of the No 6 for example.
It's good to see what might be a new symphony set under way but I wished he'd done the Choros with
the same set up - the ones that Neschling's crew messed up.

I am familiar with his guitar music but I have never heard his symphonic works....something for the future no doubt.

I like Bernada Fink's voice, Fergus... and I am intrigued by some of the lesser known lieder recitals she does... couldn't resist it for just over a fiver... ;-)fergus wrote:Jared wrote:
