My Ariand amp was returned today, repaired by AV Services, Cork and paid for in full by the ESB - hats off to them for responding so well to the incident - ESB handled things really well.

Am running the amp in right now - compared to my Arcam Alpha 10, the Ariand has greater clarity, separation, is more dynamic with better mid-range (especially voices, and stringed instruments), sounding more realistic overall. The Arcam has more pleasing and controlled low end and is more laid back but is more muffled in the mid-range. Now if only I could have the best aspects of both?

Glad to have it home for Christmas.

One last question - anything I can reasonably do to protect from electrical surprises in future without degrading the sound quality?
