Brat gets the px100

Brass Bands are all very well in their place -

Thanks JB, Santa already has the HD 450 & PX 100 so he is a happy, fat fellow. It looks as if the Superlux hd681 will make its way down the chimney for Robert and now my daughter is looking for a pair of cans too. Kids? Who'd 'ave 'em?

Well, I bought the Superlux hd681 for the young lad and he is very pleased with them. Last night, I did a quick comparison with the Superlux hd681 and the Sennheiser PX100; I used Mahler's Seventh and was very pleased to discover that I prefer the Superlux. They are not as loud as the PX100 but the overall sound quality particularly in the detail of the orchestral instruments is better on the Superlux, the PX100 sounded cloudy and have heavier bass so at less than half the price the Superlux are avery good buy.

Thanks for the recommendations.

They are very good Sean. The only issue I find with them is the material is a bit cheap but what can you expect for that price. I used them with the ipod(ipod has died now) on occasion when walking and they are fantastic. I dont think they are as trendy as the beats as my kids just laugh at me when I use them.Come to think of it they do that anyway with regard to everything.

Agreed on the material, but damn good value for the money. Recommended to me here and I've recommended them to friends who prefer them to 'phones costing 5 or 6 times the money. Great with the laptop but equally acceptable for music.
A real case of substance over style and better for it imo.

Tony, don't mind the kids. Just tell them your hifi chums think you're really with-it. Make sure to use those exact words.

Where can I buy these Super Lux phones to hear what all the fuss is about?

Hey look you are regarded as reasonably trendy by the kids probably because you are not yet follicly challenged but hopefully your time will come. You don't want to hear what the faithful here are called. I don't think chums is going to help in that regard.

Amazon is the place for them.If you were dropping lots of money in thomann you would get them for nothing as postage is free over €200!
Whatever the price €16-20odd euro it's for nothing and they are not half bad.Now the akg k701's are incredible but you pay a lot for them.
Senn hd650's not really my cup of tea but you pay more for them again.

Good to hear that on the superluxes.

Unfortunately the kids have managed to "lose" mine. How the hell they managed to lose them within the house amazes me!
