Our friend from CMG: Professor Ralph Michael Stein R.I.P.

Post by Seán »

Those of you who participate on ClassicalMusicGuide will know of Ralph Stein, a Professor of Constitutional Law at Pace University, who was formerly a frequent participant there. Upon visiting my facebook page, I saw an update indicating that he has died. Ralph had been hospitalized since February, due to complications of diabetes, and recently had expressed optimism about finishing physical rehabilitation and returning to teaching. No details on the immediate cause of death are available.

In any case, I never met him in person, but Ralph was a great soul who made a strong impact on the lives of those who knew him.
He was a lovely man and very kind to me on CMG and on Facebook too for that matter. Up to a few weeks ago he was still urging me to listen to Dittersdorf. May he Rest in Peace.

That is sad news indeed Seán. I did not have too much discussion with Ralph when I was there but I always did agree with him on his Dittersdorf crusades. May he rest in peace.

Sean, this is indeed very sad. Like Fergus, I never corresponded personally with him, but I remember his posts and am very sorry indeed to read this. The CMG community must have been hit quite hard by this news and my thoughts are with them.
