I just bought the B&W P3....

Post by sdiesel77 »

Hey Guys,

I was waiting for these headphones to buy a pair of nice B&Ws, therefore I got a pair last Friday in the Dixon shop of the airport.

Loving my b&w speakers, I was hoping the same satisfaction with this new P3 and what a shock after buying them!

The design and the confort are both great but sound quality it's an absolute disaster ! :( :(

The bass are muddy, the medium inexistant and massive lack of details!

Conclusion, I returned them to the shop after two days, I even listened to the Marshall headphones which are 100€ cheaper and guess what!? They sound a lot better (but not confortable)

What a shame for this famous brand to release such low quality product! Massive disapointment ... :(

What a pity, I use the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones when traveling. I find them v. good but they are expensive, however I did manage to pick them up at a discount in a duty free.

On another point, how about a "Not Recommended" thread for everything / anything Hi Fi which has severely failed to live up to expectations?

Please note, the thread should be about Hi Fi, not wives or girlfriends!!!

Well... that's the thing now.. I DON'T KNOW ! :(

I love the design of the B&Ws but at the end... the sound quality goes first...

I'm looking for something around the same price range, I've tried earlier a pair of GRADO S-325 and didn't like them neither.

I'll probably try to test or read reviews on some A.T, Sennheiser,...

Try the superlux hd 681 - thomann have them.

Fantastic sound for around €35. After that I still think you are looking at sennheiser 650 or akg 701....

I wonder if the build quality is also getting poor. I have had two pairs of the in-ear C5 model fail on me in the last 9 months. Both with the same defect, wiring problems in the left ear-bud.

Sorry to hear you didn't like them but at least you were able to return them. I have also heard these and was really unimpressed. It was a bit embarrasing because I was at a small demo where B&W were presenting speakers etc and the B&W guy came over with the P3 and asked my wife and I to try them, which we did for a few songs. We decided to be polite and made some hmm and ahh sounds and told him they had a winner but we really didn’t like them. No match for decent Sennheisers.

I can vouch for the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 as well. I think that they're about the same price as the B&W's and have a very dynamic sound and solid presentation. I have used mine on long haul flights with no discomfort. If you're in the market around this price point they're well worth a listen.

I don't know does any shop in Ireland have Beyerdynamic T50P headphones ?
They are killer sounding traveling cans and built like tank :)
