Apparently it is funeral music written for a Prince. I normally find that this genre can usually provide some beautifully intense music. All that I have heard of the music of Schutz so far has pleased me and as Ciaran points out above this one is apparently highly regarded. We will see.

Fergus, I only own a couple of smaller works by Schutz and of course, have liked what I have heard, although time has not permitted me to have explored further as yet. The disk for me, looks most intriguing and may be one for the future.

I listened to Schutz earlier tonight: it was very hard work for me I must say, I must revisit it.
