It is only the third of fourth time ever that I listen to this particular symphony and I really enjoy it. With his piano concertos, symphonies and violin concertos of an immense quality, I think that Prokofiev is slowly becoming one of my favorite 20th century composer.

I know people (quite rightly) tend to talk about his Masses for 4 and 5 voices and Infelix Ego, but this disk to me seems to contain some of the most wonderfully uplifting music Byrd ever wrote...

And isn´t it an exquisite masterpiece Fergus?
I think you should try Brilliant´s La Susanna, it is a delight, and the price is a steal.

I'm afraid I can't go too long without my Tallis Scholars fix, and I love their Josquin...

This new box is needless to say, full of terrific performances. The first item is an auspicious start: Argerich and Renaud Capucon play a terrific Beethoven Violin Sonata #8. Then with fellow pianist Cristina Marton have a go at Mozart´s 4 hand Sonata K.497. Though of course Argerich isn´t the only pianist featured, all of her friends play superbly well. The Ravel Concerto in G receives a magical performance, but it is a great pity that these days she only records concertos she has recorded before.
It is a great pity that we might never hear her play the Beethoven concertos #4 & 5 or the Brahms concertos.
