Great afternoon Derek and much appreciated by another Quad fanatic.
I though my 63's sounded good but your set up sounded really excellent no matter what was thrown at them.....I will put my less developed sound down to the much smaller room I have them in!
It was a great opportunity to spend some time to get to know some of the regulars on here but I was still struggling with some of the names.
The little Shine amp Fergus brought along was a revelation with the Quads so another amp that can be added to the list of excellent partners to the 63's.
The Townsend Tweeters will be looked in to again as I think they added something to the already excellent sound when they were hooked up.
A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable afternoon and all down to an excellent host with some great sounds.

Well Done Derek.

I would also like to thank Derek for his hospitality. I have long been a great admirer of his system's sound and it was great to hear it again. It was great meeting up with some Forum members that I have and have not met before. Thanks again Derek; as always it was a pleasure!

My netbook's USB ports are shot or I would have brought it yesterday.
This would have been one of the tracks I would have played - somebody I newly discovered - Admiral Fallow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odmQQO3LyWA

For Digital Audio playback that delivers WHERE the performers are on stage but more importantly WHY they are there.

Sorry I missed this - as much for the social side as the sonics! It's always good to meet up with other geeks and feel briefly normal. Derek's system is a fine example of synergy at work. With a little thought, a lot of time and an occasional injection of finance you can have a system that is more than the sum of its parts. Result!

Was in tower today and came across the fleetwood mac rumours LP 180g etc etc. I think Peter brought it with him and must offer my apologises as I had a soso view of it. I had to be stretchered out of tower when I saw the price hence I realise why it was being listened to intensely.

Hi Tony, the one I had is a 45 rpm version which is the Hoffman/ Gray version of Rumours, no longer available as far as I know. Mad lunatic thread on it on the Steve Hoffman forum if you search but it is a goto version notwithstanding the immense criticism of Hoffman on the web. Kevin Gray is the business with vinyl, Hoffman considered a bit of a charlatan into self promotion through his website which is heavily censored. Hoffman is talented but has a bit of a rep for light fingers in relation to master tapes. A number of mastering engineers are quite scathing about him, Ken Scott, Shawn Britton of MFSL and others. Check out other sites for counter views. However his site is actually populated by very knowledgable music fans who in some instances are quite anal.
