Thanks a lot Derek. Very enjoyable afternoon, great to get to hear the famed airtight and quads. Really fantastic system, liquid sound even my crap sounded good thru it.
Fergus's shine amp sounded very good also using the quads. Really nice looking amp.
I thought the quads had more than enough bass for whatever type of music that was played.
Great to see so many familar faces and meet some new lads also.

If I had more time would have liked to compare the jkdac to LP. Muddy(folk singer) sounded incredible and sorry I didnt play that thru dac to see how far apart they are.

Thanks again Tony

PS It was a bit of a quad fest. I think at least half the attendants have quads of some sort.

Hi Derek

Thanks for all your hospitality this afternoon, it was great to meet the members of the forum. Your system sounded spectacular, and I was very impressed with the Airtight Amp and the CD player. As a Quad lover I really enjoyed the 63s and am doubting my decision to move to the 2805s.

Some of the music played was brilliant, I will be checking out the Propellerheads and Yello. I saw the Flag on vinyl in Tower the other so will probably pick it up.

Ken, I was really interested in the DAC. It would be great to do a head to head with vinyl.

Once again, many thanks for a wonderfully entertaining afternoon.

regards,

Peter

Ditto, Derek, ditto!!
Much appreciated hospitality, apple pie, coffee, company, chat & music (not necessarily in that order)!
I think you should consider a DJing sideline now that you have some spare time - you were throwing shapes when the R&R music was playing. Consider it a more a vocation than a new job - educating the young whipper-snappers with some real music & real reproduction :)

I want to thank all the lads for coming along this afternoon, I had a ball of a time, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Some of the music played I hadn’t come across and loved.

Many thanks to Tony for bringing along his laptop and a JKDAC playing red-book and hi-res files to great effect. JK himself was in position to help with the set-up many thanks John.
Fergus brought his "Shine" Integrated Amp, it matched very well with the Quads - sounding lovely.

Guys if you get a minute please post some of the music you played.

Do I have to post the recipe for the apple cake?

I spent a most enjoyable afternoon at Derek's home this afternoon listening to some fine music and consuming his wife's gorgeous home baking.

It was great to meet so many of the Forum lads who I knew by name only.

Derek's set-up is magnificent; I particularly enjoyed listening to samples from my LPs and was really impressed with Derek's vinyl set-up: its contain a huge level of detail, it is a a lovely balanced system, quite wonderful actually. The "Fran" CD is a remarkable piece of kit and is further evidence of that man's great talent.

Thanks to Derek for his lovely, warm hospitality and to Fergus for bringing me to Naas and home again. I even got to listen to Gardiner's recording of Bach's Magnificat on the journey home, it was certainly time well spent.

Oh yes, I almost forgot: Fergus has a little gem in that Shine amp and it works really well with the Quads.
