What are these like? Just tyre kicking but they do look acceptable compared to esl57's. Anybody using them on the forum?
Is every quad after the 63 or maybe the 57 a letdown?

they look like a slightly more modern 63 but I'm not sure what the point of them ever was. The 989 has bass panels so there's a reason to look at them (or buy them and keep them!). I'm sure the 988s are great but I've never heard anyone say they were better than the 63s.

Glad I havent put a deposit off them yet! What have you auld quad heads got against the poor 988. It would seem to be at least an improved 63 and a lot younger so hopefullly hassle free. Have you guys heard them? are they terrible sounding? I will have to check em out on the net.

I only ever heard them in Cloney. Far from terrible sounding. I don't know if anyone regards them as 'improved' 63s rather a move sideways - at best.

Nothing wrong with them, but I never found they bettered the 63's
