Headphone amp

Hi Guys, wondering if anyone knows much about little dot amps? Saw a mkII for sale here and it looks good value.
Not sure about buying one from China via ebay though.

I have heard the mkiii. It is very good(fantastic really) and some of the members here have it or had it.

Are you liable to import duty if buying from China? Have seen that guy on ebay mentioned in a few places alright.

Hi Shane,Just checking the dac threads. A lot of reading there. Yours is easier to answer.
See link below for uk dealer. I suppose it comes in over €250. Really depends what you want from a headphone amp.
I bought a cayin one for a lot more. I wasnt prepared to take the chance in ordering direct from china.
I think at that price level it would be very hard to beat. There is another make Schiit and I think maybe cloney stock them.
Heard them at the hifi show and thought they were very good but no idea of price.

What type of headphones are you using?

Hi Tony, The Schiit ones look good and are good price (in dollars anyway), I might drop Cloneys an email and see if they stock them.
I'm using Grados SR80s at the minute but can't justify a massive outlay just now. I do hope to upgrade later but probably will stick with Grados - I like the sound and don't find them uncomfortable (as some users do). I bought a Mengyue mini a few years ago off ebay, it came recommended from the Cloney forum I think, and I got the valve bug from there. It sounded great with headphones too (to me anyway)
The mkII is for sale for 90€ which is a lot less than importing which is what caught my eye.

You can hardly go too far wrong at that kind of money. I keep an eye on adverts from time to time and some good headphone gear has come up there over the past few months. I've seen a ray samuels model, and a few others. Be worth doing a search in case some of them haven't sold.

I've personaly had a couple of little dot amps and they were all fine performers. The mkIII in particular was good IIRC. I moved over since then to other valve HP amps so let the little dots go.....

Not sure which one Fran is recommending there but if you have the bucks the mkiii is the one to go for. My recollection is the earlier ones were problematic and I think little dot hit the jack pot with the mkiii.

The Edwards HA1 is a fully discrete, two input Bi-Polar headphone amplifier. The inputs are relay switched via a rear panel toggle switch and allows for standard RCA line level input with loop output, so you don't loose an input, plus a dedicated MP3/iPod input on 3.5mm stereo jack.
