I had the immense pleasure of hearing the young Irish pianist Peter Tuite performing this afternoon. Those who know me know of my idiosyncratic reservation regarding solo piano playing. However, Peter Tuite commanded my attention from his first note to his last. He is a consummate musician of very high talent indeed. At the end of his recital he played a Busoni transcription of a JS Bach Chorale Prelude which had the audience transfixed; I do not exaggerate. All that I will add is that if you get a chance to hear this pianist performing then please do so at your earliest convenience; he is an incredible talent.
