Stainer's Crucifixion

In the highly unlikely event that anyone is interested, I'll be accompanying a performance of Stainer's oratorio "The Crucifixion" in Monkstown church next Wednesday at 7:30. Given that it's the first time I've played the organ in about 100 years, who knows what might happen?!

In looking for something suitable to say about this work I turned to Wikipedia and found this gem:
Although the composer Ernest Walker dismissed the work, writing in 1924 that "Musicians today have no use for The Crucifixion", and even Stainer characterized his work as "rubbish,"[3] the work continues to be recorded and performed today.

I passed by Monkstown Church today Simon and I did not see any 10 meter high portraits of your handsome visage draped down the side of the building as I would have expected. One shoud have a few words with one's agent regarding the matter!!!

Fergus, I believe they couldn't find a poster big enough for my fat head!

(As it stands I still can't play it, and final rehearsal is tomorrow night...)
