Sure there is something out there but I have a stack of magazines if you want to do a bit of reading up. They seem to get passed around by everyone here. Drop me a pm if interested.

I've been feeling guilty that we've let this pretty valid question slip.

Would people care to post their nuggets of advice, and I'll compile them into one post?

I'll start:

Ask around on the forum if anyone has used/experience with a piece of equipment you're thinking of buying. You might get no response, but you might also find someone that already has that model and is willing to give you a listen.

and even ask if people here have a amp or speakers or CD player or whatever. Many of us have stuff gathering dust that we just never got around to advertising and you could pick up good second hand gear quite cheaply.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.
