I think that you could definitely buy with confidence there Seán. I am an admirer of Herreweghe and I would have a lot of the music in that set. I know that it is a big enough price tag but it also represents good value as 27 CDs is a lot of music.

I would buy that straight away if I didn't have about half of the CDs already. Even so I'm thinking about it!

Thanks lads, I don't have any Herreweghe recordings, my Bach collection is sorely lacking and I have one CD of the Vocale Ghent on this recording I "made" before Christmas:

Collegium Vocale Ghent and Freiburg Baroque Orchestra conducted by Marcus Creed
Bach: Cantata 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland'
Zelenka: Missa dei filii

they are really fantastic, they raise the hair on the back of my neck. I will get this set of Bach recordings and I see that it contains:

Cantata BWV61 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland'
Sibylla Rubens (soprano), Sarah Connolly (mezzo), Christoph Prégardien (tenor), Peter Kooy (bass)

Then if you should buy it. You won't be disappointed.

(I've got a good few of these recordings already, and I can't think of a dud among them.)

Hmm perhaps this would be what a person like me who knows nothing about Bach's vocal and choir music need. Would anybody know the content of that boxset?

Matt.

I think that would definitely be a wise purchase Sean

I have some of the isolated discs and have always wanted to collect more - but the prices are often prohobitive on Amazon

I may move some funds around and invest in this one....
