We always make sure we know where the on off button is on any server. Wouldnt do it on a mainframe or unix machine on fear of death but everything else seems to be designed that way. I dont know if I will have space for the dac on one trip to Ivors but sure I can put on the roof rack. You guys are most welcome to come and listen just call off at ivors on route for some liquid to make sure the sound will not be'baad sound'. I will pick it up either tonight or saturday depending on when John delivers. Not sure if he uses pizza express or dominos? Dermot I haven't seen your name on the list yet? Are you not fed up of that spinner yet?
What I heard up at Frans was indeed impressive through the stacked Quads.....but no, I can't ever see myself going down that route...That's only me though so I wouldn't pass any remarks :)

Have a look at the link below for some hi res downloads....

Might make some nice genuine hi res listening material for the audition. They're downloading at the moment here as I type - more later....

Maybe this is a Ken or Fran question but when coypying using EAC I end up with a folder of tracks in no real order. Do I have to enter the name of each song/track in the relevant field to get some more order? Really I want the shortcut if it is available without having to do the leg work.
Tony,

I run EAC on Windows XP, your screen may look somewhat different to mine but on running EAC and loading a CD, I end up with the EAC window listing Track01, Track02 etc. Alt+G starts the process of getting the album information and artwork from the remote databases. Ending up with the EAC window listing the Song titles and the album artwork! At this stage you can edit any of the information, for example you may prefer Gallagher, Rory to Rory Gallagher. Ctrl+A selects all and Shift+F5 opens the window to allow you to specify where to write the ripped file. I use Windows Explorer to make folders etc. but there are several ways of doing this.

My thanks to Fran for the above info as he sent a lot of TXT replies to my queries as I struggled to get to terms with EAC. The pulldown menus can be used of course, I find these shortcuts very handy.

I actually prefer to get the Song Titles and artwork as I like to know what is playing on my Squeezebox Duet remote, Foobar 2000 or the Squeezebox Server on my p.c.

Hope this if of some help to you.

Just dropped the DAC32 into Ivor' Wine Buff emporium. Lovely place, didn't have much time to look around the stock but well impressed with the range. Took away a couple of bottles!!

Ok did the easy bit. i.e. picked up some bottles of wine and a shiny box from Ivors. As per usual the harder bit fails. Installed young driver and connected jkdac32. Some reason seemed to have problems finding it and the driver. Got that sorted but for some reason it is playing through the speakers in the laptop not a dicky bird through the dac. Anyway off out to meet family in a local so will work on it when I am relaxed later.
What was that about working in IT?

Ok, you've jumped in a t the deep end first - a good IT habit :)
The Young driver is a non-official driver for this device & as a result is not picked up automatically (the Hiface driver is picked up automatically). As a result, it has to be installed manually which I presume is what you did?

If you are using JPlayMini then use the "a" keyboard key to toggle the output between your audio devices - choose the "Kernel Streaming - Hiface"

Ok back from our walk. switched to young kernel streaming and hey presto we have lift off. I adjusted sound as well not sure if it would have worked with that or not. It was set to native and took I think -12db option but not sure if that did anything. Need to spend a bit of time doing reading the manual and checking the posts. Two immediate points. volume on amp needs to be raised and the 2 second gap is a pain hapened a couple of times during one track.
