Tony, you're straight out of the traps, well done. The JKDAC32 is plug and play. I suggest you download a trial of JPlay from jplay.eu . Focus only on JPlaymini (forget JRiver iTunes and Foobar plugins) follow the instructions and get it installed on a W7 or Vista computer. (Install Foobar also just as a parallel system to make sure the connections are ok etc. ) Start with simple settings and crank them up to full-on ,sit back and enjoy.

Thanks Ken, I was all fired up after dinner, took out the false teeth and just closed my eyes and dived in! Thanks for tips I have downloaded jplay and eac.Started copying a few cds. It all seems fairly easy so far (tempting faith). JPLAY seems grand I see the mini option and remember your cutting and pasting in Frans. I must make sure not to get any wine in Ivors when collecting as it may cloud my judgement of Johns DAC. Will have to spend the week on tap water to ensure I conduct the trial in idea conditions Cheers Tony

Tony, don't you know that the best upgrade for your audio system is a bottle of wine & costs way less than any cable or gizmo :)

You could say Ivor has moved into the audio tweaks business :)

I was wondering what had drawn him to the business it all makes sense now. Probably end up giving demos at the next cloney show.

I like that that idea.

"Ok... now take a mouthful of the Rioja and we'll listen to that piece again... more detail right? Am I right? Huh? Huh?"

I see you in the Nordost room, Ivor - wine soaked cables to a wine soaked audience.
Change the character of cables by soaking in wine - the perfect marriage of audio & viniculture. If you want a mellow, rich sound use an oak aged Rioja; for a light airy sound try a Sauvignon Blanc. I tell ya this has legs - it could go far :)

You never know John you could be beside him flogging your gear. I would shudder to think what the mark up would be if it got to hifi shops.
Maybe this is a ken or Fran question but when coypying using eac I end up with a folder of tracks in no real order. Do I have to enter the name of each song/track in the relevant field to get some more order? Really I want the shortcut if it is available without having to do the leg work.
Also are you guys storing your stuff on a separate hard drive? I presume one would have to do that once you start copying tons of cds. The drive on the laptop has 750GB of storage but it looks like that would be eaten away fairly quickly as approx 120gb is gone already on the usual stuff. Sure since I am on a roll what type of backup software are you using? I need to get something solid for my desktop as well. Again I presume with the music files it is just copy and paste to whatever number of external storage drives I can afford to buy?
I hope these questions are not too obvious. You wouldnt think I work in IT!
