I dont know what those albums(a broken consort) sound like Dermot. I could guess! They certainly put a lot of effort into the covers. Some of them are very good. Art?

Impossible to describe his music Tony! Have a listen below and see what you think....He records using different aliases like A Broken Consort, Richard Skelton (obviously his name), Carousell etc etc He mainly plays stringed instruments like guitar, piano, cello, layers them afterwards and makes them sound as if they were bowed. This music is suffused with sadness, passing time and sheer love of the landscape in the Pennine district where he lives. His wife artist Louis sadly died in 2004 and he has dedicated the music he has made since to her...Anyway have a listen below. BTW there is a subtle difference, musically speaking, between all the aliases. Can you hear it?
By the way the images you see on his albums are his own.....

An unusual choice Fran! What do you think of their early experiments? They get a terrific guitar sound on one of those albums. Is it this one I wonder....

Dermot will give the consort links a listen later tonight. Dont expect me to get hooked! I have been listening to the eno stuff that has come. I think airports and films are samey on first listen .Pearls and the on land would grab my attention at the moment

Don't worry Tony it has taken me almost two years to 'get' Richard's music! Be very careful when you use the word 'samey' - I'm just as guilty - because therein lies the magic :) Still I should be happy that you can actually listen to On Land !
