I think Satriani , Vai , Petrucci is pure guitar bomb. Love G3

The White Stripes - Under Great Northern Lights

Its a live album documenting a tour across Canada. Comes as a twofer of CD and DVD. Have had the CD on and its pretty good, not the best ever. Looking forward to having a look at the DVD later.

I saw that this is also available on vinyl, but wasn't sure if the DVD was with it or not, and it seemed that the DVD would be a fairly integral part of that....

The DVD is probably essential! I've never succumbed to the charms of The White Stripes, maybe the live settiing will change my mind (as it always does!). Anyway you make it sound good Fran :-)

What the $MWB label says...
Originally released in 1971, America is one of the artistic high points of John Fahey’s career. And yet, for nearly 30 years it was not heard in its entirety, as what was originally intended as a double album was pared down to a single LP. 4 Men With Beards is proud to present the complete America double album, released on vinyl for the first time ever. Fahey himself had this to say about America: “Out of all the songs I ever wrote, I consider only two of them ‘epic’ or ‘classic’ or in the ‘great’ category and they are both on this record.” Deluxe gatefold packaging that includes a reproduction of the original illustrated booklet. Limited edition of 3,000 numbered copies.

Tracks: 1. Jesus Is A Dying-Bed Maker 2. Amazing Grace 3. Song #3 4. Special Rider Blues 5. Dvorak 6. Jesus Is A Dying-Bed Maker 7. Finale 8. America 9. Dalhart, Texas 1967 10. Knoxville Blues 11. Mark 1:15 12. Voice Of The Turtle 13. Waltz That Carried Us Away And Then A Mosquito Came And Ate Up My Sweetheart

Watch out! I had to return one copy before I got one that wasn`t pressed way off centre - even though the second copy was also eccentric it wasn`t as bad as the unlistenable first copy. I tried contacting 4 men with beards via thier distribution several times and got no reply. The eBay seller I dealt with was excellent though (devilsjukebox).

Now you're talkin' Pure and Briliant, every one should have some Ted Hawkins in their life.

"There stands the glass" remains one of the very best hair standing songs I've ever encountered.
His version of "Long as I can see the Light" is superb. He recorded this acappella, after which the band track was dropped perfectly on top of his vocal without any dubbing or manipulation, he had perfect pitch and timing

A great CD

I didn't know anythig about his music until I took a flyer on this CD but Garnet Mimms should have been as big a hit as Otis Redding, Ben E King, Sam Cooke or any of the big artists of the '60s, but Lady luck just didn't smile on him.

His take on "Just A Matter of Time" has a mournful and delicate touch but wth a sophistcated dept, kinda like Soloman Burke meets Jackie Wilson.

Lovers of Soul and Origional R&B should take note!
