So what do we think of the new Tom Wait's album then?
I have to say I really liked it, relitively accessible compared to some of his later albums and some great lyrics. A certain nod towards mortality in the songs too which is hardly new but now seems as if late middle age is looming.
I think it owes more to the Rain Dogs/Sowrdfishtrombones era than any other with a slice of Bone Machine thrown in. I loved it after one listen... let's hope that view doesn't change over time!

Funny you should think so too.... its almost exactly what I thought:
giving this a run tonight... actualy like it quite a lot! Its more melodic than some of his more challenging stuff, so its easy enough to get into ... reminds me of raindogs/swordfishtrombones. I think its a winner...

Like you, I've only had one decent listen, and need to go back to it again now, but its very promising I think. Lots in there to get on the 3rd, 4th listen and so on.... but not so hard as the later albums.

Great to see it...

First two from the Sound and Vision show, the rest from Tower. All vinyl....Actually went looking for the new Hendrix in the West double (eventually found it in Tower) and rejected it (!?!?!) for the last three. Didn't mind though as I already have all the tracks; sure it'll be still there next time I'm up in the city ;-) Still Sony should be ashamed of themselves - €34.99 for a measly double album!! The cd is only €13.99!!!

Had a quick listen and was horrified with the first Lp :-( Still I was more interested in the live set anyway....Triple vinyl set with no notes at all....nada :-(
Image
Bought this for it's legendary status; real fans would probably be better served with the 5 cd box set instead....

Mastered from the omt....sounds good too:-)

Delighted to come across this - thanks for alerting me Gerry!

.....and this! It's a live one.

Didn't need this but seeing as it is it's first re-entry into the vinyl market along with five bonus cuts for the first time in an aeon, how could I possibly resist :-) Wonder what Jimi sounds like with the Frugals? Did I mention it's now a double....and his definitive reading of Red House finally gets a whole side to itself, which I'm giving a cursory listen to right now and......WOW! it sounds amazing, friggin' amazing :-)))))) Friggin' amazing!
