Re: What are you listening to?
^^ Fergus, do you have McCreesh's Messiah, by any chance? It's going very cheap at present, and I'm thinking of getting another version to compliment my Pinnock set... but it has been criticised for it's breakneck pace (something he's not exactly a stranger to, it has to be said)... ;-/

quality throughout, Dave...DaveF wrote:One of my favorites...
if you ever fancy another mid-priced Mendelssohn set, try out the Ashkenazy:

there's a 5 CD set with a Midsummer Night's Dream going here for only £4... and it's also very good!!
Re: What are you listening to?
Yes I do, Jared. I like McCreesh as you know so I would recommend it to you....but then you knew that before you asked! There is nothing wrong with lendind a bit of life and drive to the Messiah....the music lends itself to it. If the price is right for you then go for it!Jared wrote:^^ Fergus, do you have McCreesh's Messiah, by any chance? Re: What are you listening to?
this is a wonderfully sprightly recording, full of the energy and excitement of a live recording.... I'd recommend this version to anyone...

Re: What are you listening to?
This is a wonderful disc. The music is very enjoyable and very well played; I particularly liked the dance music with its very strong rhythms.
