Re: Anyone tried JPlay?
Changed the PC to a 64bit W7 Acer and installed an extra 4Gb of RAM (up to 7Gb now) .I'm using the 64bit version of Jplay , which they supplied immediately I requested it. Everything working perfectly now and all settings flat out. I'm able to use DirectLink now for 24/96 and 24/192 files and all works fine with the JKHiface. Sound is superb.
John, I ran the latency checker on a netbook and the old laptop and it showed high potential for dropout, Haven't tried it yet on the Acer.

On the netbook or old laptop you could probably kill non-essential processes until you got your latency down into the green area - networking & WiFi are the usual suspects for high latency blips

Here's highfidelity.pl 's review out today. http://www.highfidelity.pl/@main-972&lang= Read it in original Polski or use Google Translate to give a crude translation. There'll be an English version at the end of the month.

Getting some serious enjoyment from listening to music from to the latest revision 3.4 of Jplay released today.
Some serious inroads being made in digital playback these days and even better when it is just 2 guys working in their spare time making all other players look like bit players in the evolution of PC based playback.
For everyday listening through a Squeezebox Touch we also have TT3 from Klaus coming our way in 2 weeks.
Exciting times in the realm of digital playback!!!

Sligolad, what's TT3?
Edit: Is this some new program for SB Touch or is it a TurnTable :)

Re: Anyone tried JPlay?
It is a software mod for the Touch developed by Soundcheck.
If you do a search you will find he has a blog on these mods and he regularly posts on Diyaudio and Slimdevices forum.
His mod takes a bit of work getting up to speed on as you have to use Winscp to load the mod which was a steep learning curve for me but the improvements in sound were worth the effort.
I have been running TT2 for a year now and i am looking forward to TT3 as he puts in lots of hours trying to improve the performance of the Touch, i have over 60K files in MP3 which using MusicIp makes listening to music sometimes a wonderfull lottery. The performance of the Touch with Flac and Wav is also very good in to my Young DAC.
For serious listening Jplay is a whole different ballgame, even though streaming developments are also moving at a pace.
Cheers,
Pearse.

Re: Anyone tried JPlay?
Ah, yes, I knew about Soundcheck's tweaks - I didn't know they were called TT2, 3
So you have a M2tech Young DAC? I didn't know there were any in the country. Would it be possible, at some stage, to compare it to my new 32/384 DAC also based on an M2tech USB front end? Are you based in Sligo? PM me if interested.

PM sent John, based in Shankill and i would certainly be interested in comparing both.
I also have a Teddy Pardo power supply in to the Young.
