Looking forward to hearing this one. The Budapest Quartet's classic Columbia recordings from 1951/2 have been dogged by intermittent availability so when I saw this set in Tower for only €30 I snapped it up.
That is an interesting find all right. I have the later set that Seán mentions but it would be intruiging to hear the earlier versions. Enjoy it!!

That is a glorious set, Sean. Have you heard Bohm's Tristan und Isolde from the 1966 Bayreuth Festival? Here is the closing Liebestod, as sung by the incomparable Birgit Nilsson. One of the great moments in recorded opera, in my opinion.

Thanks for that, I'm afraid Wagner's music is addictive, I love it.

On my way to the NCH tonight for the sensational Mahler 6 concert I popped in to e2music on College Green and came away with this set, it cost me €7.

Fergus, I see that you are collecting recordings of Mozart's Horn Concertos, please let us know what you think of that set.

Yes indeed Seán; I have had these sets on my List for a long time now so the time for purchasing has arrived. I love the music and so want a few different versions on my shelf.
