Yep, they met on the set of "One from the Heart" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084445/ where Tom did the music and Kathleen was, I think, a script editor. I found out early this year that tom is actually a not-too-distant cousin of mine by marriage. My mother's brother married Agatha Waites of Kilcolgan Go Galway (where my late mother is from) and Tom is Agatha's first cousin. I hadn't realised there was any connection until I was discussing Tom Waits with my cousin Siobhán, Agatha's daughter, and she casually mentioned it.

it would have been interesting if it was just some singer or artist I knew in passing but given that I've been a huge fan since the age of 14 or thereabouts it was a bit of a surprise alright!
