I think the Scarlatti disk has given me all the Harpsichord music I need for the time being... ;-)

I own that disk too, Fergus... whilst the music may be considered very good rather than great, I think the performances from Lane & Little certainly are top drawer..

I own that disc in different packaging. Lovely, as I recall, with some very high soprano lines(?)

Must listen to it again.

Ah, something that actually prompts you to voluntary listen to music these days Simon must be good!!! How is the listening going?

Not great. I'll update the other thread in due course, but for the time being the man cave is housing the materials for a replacement bathroom, so it's out of action. That's being installed as I type, so I should be back in business next week.

But recent furniture changes have led to further acoustical problems that I'll share at a later point. Suffice to say, the position and number of all my acoustical treatments will require further experimentation. A quick rearrangement recently led to a *shocking* difference in sonics...

I have read in a few places that in general the Kharmas work well in most rooms without such accoustic problems. I always took that with a pinch of salt. But it would seem you've got a very odd problem with accoustics in that room. A bit off topic for this thread but have you ever tried setting up your hifi in another room?

The sound-proofing between the 2 semi-d's is so bad that if I don't use the gable end I'll never get to use the hifi at all, so the short answer is no.

All is not lost or anything of the sort, because as the room has gathered some furniture things have improved. I actually think the problem now is that's I've too much treatment, so a bit of experimentation might yield results. That said, the room itself is as bad as I've ever heard. It can make good components sound really s**t.

I am sorry to hear of your continuing woes Simon. Perhaps when the bathroom stuff is cleared out you can get down to some serious re-organisation. Hopefully the problem is solveable!?
