Ask Paul :-) Seriously though, all I can honestly say Johnny is, he's definitely an acquired taste.
But that observation in no way diminishes his work which, as you've found out, is vast! The Love Songs album above is a very accessible introduction to his music; I can safely say if you didn't like that then stay well clear! I'm sure Paul will probably disagree with me but I'm being brutally honest here...Of the albums I have I would also recommend Pawn Hearts, A Black Box and, I'm really pushing it here :-) Fall of the House of Usher - the original version....Oh and by the way congratulations on getting two of three :-))
