Anyone here have one?
I saw this linked from another forum today and thought it wasn't a bad buy...

But I'm interested to see how it would compare to the rebuilt lenco....

Do or do not, there is no try
Re: Garrard 301/401
I'm not in the market for one but I would have thought that it was a good enough price for it? Completely reconditioned and all....

Re: Garrard 301/401
there is a Polish man living in Sandyford who was selling a serviced 301 a few weeks ago not sure on the price.
I am also interested in trying the idler route
i have a good 401 motor unit which i use, and a weak 301 motor unit which needs a bit of love.
a few of the more respected tonearm makers Thomas Schick and Frank Schroder use idler drive Thomas 301 and Frank a Continental -an australlian broadcast turntable.
The one which is probably most desireable idler drive is an Emt 927
this is said to be as good as it gets i think they fetch up on ten thousand euros now
and are prefered to the later Emt direct drive technology.
also the rek o kut idler drive turntables may be worth checking out they may not be to expensive yet
i think phillips may have bought continental and possibly rek o kut so it may be worthwhile keeping an eye out on phillips.
on the 301 it is supposed to work best in a cherry plinth and not a slate
the garrard service man dr. martin bastin has ite bearing sitting solid against wood and the motor mounted on the plinth and not connected to the top plate
the list goes on and on
the cartridge maker koetsu used a 401
