continuing with HvK this evening. Sibelius 4&5. Think I might be coming around Karajan's way with Sibelius.

Re: What are you listening to?
I have not heard the EMI recordings but I know that Seán does not particularly like them. I only have the DG recordings and I honestly think that they are hard to beat.DaveF wrote:continuing with HvK this evening. Sibelius 4&5. Think I might be coming around Karajan's way with Sibelius.

I have concluded listening to this cycle with Symphonies Nos. 4-7.No. 5 was a particularly strong performance and No. 7 was also very fine.

I have his HvK's Sibelius recordings on EMI and I find that they are difficult to listen to. Perhaps his DG recording are superior, I suspect they are.fergus wrote:I have not heard the EMI recordings but I know that Seán does not particularly like them.
