Oh dear! What's the tracklist? Is it a variety of periods, styles and instruments, or more monochrome?

I'm impressed you're even trying this hard!

Schumann – Symphonies 3 & 4....

This set consisted of typically assertive Zinman performances and as such are up to his normal, high standards. I liked the fresh, positive feel to these interpretations that lilt along at pace yet never feel rushed while the slow movements are beautifully played with feeling on lovely strings. This is a very good set and would be a very good place to start if one were not familiar with Schumann.

^^ some fine listening again, today Fergus...

my Bach: Motets (Jacobs) arrived today, and it has accidently fallen into my CD player on three separate occasions, since... ;-)

seriously, it's an excellent recording and performance, for which I have Paul to thank. Otherwise, it's been Bach, Handel & Vivaldi as usual.. with plenty more Bach to come over this coming week... :-))
