I dont have much in the way of Rennaissance music but I've got quite a bit of Baroque. I do particulary like French Baroque. Jordi Savall is probably my favorite conductor of this type of work. The AlloVox label do have some splendid CD packaging.Jared wrote:^ I must say Dave, I have noticed you post some quite unusual and indeed intriguing CD covers...
you enjoy late Rennaissance/ Baroque music, don't you?

some glorious music from Corelli, Telemann and Rameau. Once again Jordi Savall and Le Concert des Nations deliver the goods.

R Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra [Zinman]....
This is another very fine rendition of Zarathustra. It has a different feel to it than that of von Karajan’s in that it is somewhat “softer”. It is really very beautiful in places whereas von Karajan is much more powerful. Different horses for different courses!

Re: What are you listening to?
Franz Joseph Haydn
Seven Last words on the Cross
Amadeus Quartet
This morning, Fergus and I attended a marvelous concert by the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet of Haydn's, The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross, I found it a really uplifting experience, and it was great to meet up with and to talk to Fergus again. When I got home I just had to listen to my only recording of this work with the Amadeus Quartet and now I have work to do......
