As part of my de-vinylisation! The end of 33⅓ years of black discs!
These were all the rage in the 1980s and Linn explicitly recommended this one in the owner's manual for the LP12. (In fact the manual says that the best way to clean your LPs is to play them, using the stylus to scrape the dirt out of the grooves, then use this to clean the stylus!!!)
It has a little motor which agitates the head. You place it on the (stationary) platter with the head vibrating and lower the stylus onto it, leave for a few seconds. It worked well with two Linn K9 cartridges, but the only time I lowered my Sumiko Blue Point onto it the cartridge resonated loudly and I lifted it off immediately and never used it again. So, more suitable for some cartridges than others apparently. Stereophile's Michael Fremer has been known to say that these devices are guaranteed to wreck your cartridge, so you have been warned.
Anyone interested in making an offer on this vinylphile curiosity?

Re: Audio Technica AT-637 Stylus Cleaner
A few of these have sold for £20 - £50 on eBay recently: interesting, as I've seen much higher values claimed. Anyway, I'll sell it here for €20 if anyone's interested! Excellent example, not much wear, in original packaging, even including the tiny original cleaning fluid bottle: now empty of course!
Highly thought of by many turntable owners (but see caveat above).
