Spoilsport ;-( I remember hearing and being mightily impressed with her singing this particular song that was featured on an 8-track cartridge compilation along with the Hollies, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash etc etc that my big brother had bought. About 10 years later I found the song on a solo album of hers....for the life of me I cannot remember the title; oh wait, I'm sure it was a song called 'It's Getting Better'. What a voice indeed....

Hi DJ. No, it's most definitely not a type of mp3 :-) Have a look at the Wiki link below and see if it makes sense. To explain briefly, it was a loop of magnetic tape inside a tough plastic cartridge with 8 tracks on the tape containg the important musical signal and, of course you needed a special machine to play it on! I'd safely say even today it would be a far superior sound carrier than mp3. To end on a light note: I got so fed up not being able to afford the high prices being charged for a second hand copy of Mushroom's only album on vinyl that when I came across an 8-track version in a charity shop I snapped it up for pittance. I didn't at the time have a machine to play it on - they had long been discontinued - and I still don't but at least I have a genuine rarity. Incidentally only a few years ago I spotted a gorgeous vinyl repress in a beautifully presented gatefold with bonus extras in Road of all places! So good things do eventually come to those who patiently wait :-)

I am not sure about the vintage but it does say remastered on the CD cover. Knowing the vintage of my Rock collection it is probably mid 1990s or thereabouts!
