Schumann – Symphonies 1 & 4 Goodman....
I really liked these versions; they were very positive, full of vitality and exciting in approach and texturally they sounded wonderful.

Re: What are you listening to?
Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano are hard to beat in Monteverdi. But has he recorded all the Books of Madrigals yet? La Venexiana, whose singers partly overlap with Concerto Italiano's have. What I've heard of them has been good too, and they have an excellent L'Orfeo.fergus wrote:Monteverdi – Second Book of Madrigals....

I dont think so Ciaran and I am interested in hearing some of the La Venexiana performances....they are on the Wish List.Ciaran wrote:Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano are hard to beat in Monteverdi. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano concerto No. 19
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Clara Haskil piano
Ferenc Fricsay - conducting.
[Recorded in 1956]
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano concerto No. 20
Orchestre Des Concerts Lamoureux
Clara Haskil piano
Igor Markevitch - conducting.
[Recorded in 1961]
These are magnificent performances of these two gorgeous works and are, on my first listen, preferable to the Perahia/ECO performances. Clara Haskil's playing is sumptous, this set is a gem.
