Thanks to both of you ..
I had
TirNaHifi Notifacitions
instead of
TirNaHifi Notifications
I don't worry a lot about mis-spellings but I thought it was important in this case. If any one is searching for advice on Notifications I would like them to find the thread.

Could one of the moderators please correct my spelling of the name of this thread. I don';t seem to be able to change it myself. Thanks.

Re: TirNaHifi Notifacitions
Thanks for the advice. I have the default settings but I don't seem to get any notifications when someone sends me a PM.
I did not change any of the settings but, to try to improve things, I clicked on 'Save' so maybe things will work better now.

Tir Na Hifi Notifications
Can I get a notification (via email) if I get a PM (private message)?. I regularly look at the site but only login when I want to post/reply to something.

Re: Squeezebox
I started out with one of these. A really good introduction to (local) streaming. You rip some CDs to your computer and run the Logitech media server on your PC. Also gives you Internet radio. If you want to try streaming grab the offer. Don't think it will support Tidal or Qobuz.. A really generous...

Re: What's the most overrated/disappointing gear you bought?
I can (maybe) see the (possible) advantages of separate volume controls for each channel.
Less crosstalk?
But why not couple them with string as used on old style tuners with an analogue dial?
Maybe for true double-mono you should have a 2 box preamp.

Quad 33/303 -- new verion being launched
https://the-ear.net/news/quad-33-303-amplifier-history-revisited/ I got the latest Cloney newslettrer and he mentions a new revision of the Quad 33/303. So I looked it up and the above is a good description. It's an interesting concept but it is really (as far as I can judge) a totally new design b...

Re: the return of the infamous compact cassette
You know, I read this thread and thought "zero interest in cassettes", then I went to my parents' house and found a tape of a concert I had attended that got replayed on the radio and that I then recorded. I'd actually like to hear it again. Joke's on me, I guess. Don't suppose you've any...

Re: Grateful Dead and Havergal Brian
A long time ago (in a distant galaxy etc .. but let's say late 1980's / early 1990's) We had cablelink that was piped TV and also Radio so we had the BBC stuff .. BBC-Radio-3 pushed Havergal Brian -- Gothic Symphony Sorabji -- Perfumed Garden. (Solo piano). Eventually both were available on CD. I qu...
