I am wondering which of the following I should get:
Abbado/BPO;
van Immerseel/Anima Eterna;
Hogwood/Academy of Ancient Music or
Zinman/Tonhalle.
Any suggestions?

All four, probably....seriously! They all will have something different to contribute to you as a Beethoven lover.
Abbado/BPO; I have not heard this cycle but you particularly like Abbado so I would have it if I were you.
van Immerseel/Anima Eterna; I do not have it but I have heard most of it and I will buy it eventually
Hogwood/Academy of Ancient Music: a must have IMHO
Zinman/Tonhalle: very good and on the same style as the 1963 HvK cycle with two interesting historical additions.

I'd agree with Fergus on the Abbado and Hogwood sets. Both very different mind.

If you are going for Abbado Sean, this is apparently the better set to get:
I own it and very much enjoy it, although I think No 9 is slightly underpowered...

It's on the shelf!
