Howdy,
does anyone, or has anyone used one of those ringmat yokes on their TT?
They seem to be on the go for years so they must be selling, hence people must be buying, hence they must be doing some good for some people?

It reads like complete bullshit I know!!!!

I have a loan of Fran's Funk Acromat at the moment while I await a new Acromat from Cloneys and I have to say it's nice. Not as much detail perhaps as my old Clearaudio Harmoniser but that was just too heavy for a Roksan TT. If I had a perspex platter I might lay an album directly onto it but I don't, my platter is aluminium.

I'm just interested in people's experience with the different mats - and the ringmat in particular.
I bought my achromat from AndyS when he got rid of his TT. Around that time I changed from a wooden platter on my TT to an acrylic one and using the achromat really brought the sound back on a par with the wood. So good result.
I have also since ahem, acquired a clearaudio harmonicer. This is more detailed sound than the achromat alright, sounded OK on my acrylic platter, but not as nice on the lenco.
Then about the same time some other lenco nutters were advocating the use of a ringmat, or at least a DIY version of a ringmat. I've made up one of these and am pretty pleased with the result. So Iw as interested in hearing anbody else's experience with the ringmat. The site reads like complete twaddle eg:
This unique but simple device absorbs any vibrations which remain in the record while it is being played. It rests on top of the LP during play, occupying an area smaller than the record label. Very light in weight, it comprises a single ring underneath an absorbent, low resonance disc.
Can see any possible truth in that.....
Anyway, just interested.....
