The Bargain Thread!

The idea of this thread is to help one another build our libraries up with high quality, critically acclaimed recordings.
If you see something being sold exceptionally cheaply, either on Amazon, Ebay or another Music site, (or indeed in a shop in Dublin!) which you just can't keep to yourself, and feel that others should know about it for their own benefit, then this is the thread to use.
I'll start off with one for you... as it's something I've already posted about this evening:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... ition=used
Apologies for using Amazon.co.uk, but I'm not sure which version of Amazon you all use in Ireland... I know Sean shops mostly with .fr . Anyway, this recording is now being sold for pence, and it is a thoroughly excellent, melodic and accessible version of Schubert's massive Octet, which was the BBC R3 BaL standard bearer for many years... so, please snap it up! Incidentally, I think 'Zoverstocks' (an excellent firm) have several copies... I bought mine from them last week.
So, it's over to you... what bargains have you spotted????

OK, this is by pure chance.... and a frankly a ridiculous case of serendipity... but I've come across another wonderful bargain:
New & Sealed: Barenboim's acclaimed account of Brahms Ballades/ Piano Sonata No.3.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... dition=new
it's been on my list for a while... so when I saw it at this price, I snapped it up.. and low and behold, he has more than one!!
Go for it, I say... ;-))

well, I know that funds are tight for many of us, myself included, so if we can help one another save a few Euros on the way to exploring new music, then this has to be a good thing...
I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Gaudier version, Fergus... I found it made a challenging piece very accessible..

another bargain for your attention, although this one is perhaps a little more specialised than the previous two.
I have been listening to a disk of Grieg's folk-lieder, sung by Ann Sophie von Otter recently, and I don't think I have heard her sound so warm and vibrant. The songs are markedly different from say Schubert lieder... softer in tone, but harmonious and well constructed. Anyway, this is a Penguin Guide 4 star, key recording disk:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grieg-Lieder-Ed ... 623&sr=8-1
so, buy with confidence!
