Hi All.
Firstly, No! I am not mad ! But I have the rare luxury of having time to myself this week.

It occurs to me that there are a fair number of like minded individuals who regularly communicate here but might pass each other in the street without knowing it.

I'm well aware of Fran's get togethers. Despite Fran's nice invitations and my best intentions, I've yet to make it to one. Always seem to get my timings screwed up.

It occurs to me also that as a group of people consisting of fine winers and other alcoholic beverage and coffee afficionados, who are probably all younger than 100 , definitely like their music but otherwise are a reasonably disparate bunch [sounds better than motley crew ?] that maybe we should be thinking about the Christmas Party !?!?!?!?!?

Maybe nobody is bothered ?
Maybe some are but can't get past the immediate solutions required ? [We shouldn't entertain even the concept of problems here. Only solutions !].
And on, and on ...

Is there any interest ?
Is anybody up for helping establish the Tir na HiFi Social Committee [TnaHFSC sounds like a NAMA bank] ?
Are the Moderators only allowed to imbibe in moderation ?
Are the Administrators only allowed to administer the hairs of the dog ?
Will the ordinary members be able to remember ?

I know it's early, but time flies, it's a shitty recessionary time, and it's good to look forward.

Anyway just sowing a seed.
BTW, I'm a lazy gardener. Sow the seeds and feck off to let things take their course. i.e. My jobs done here, for now anyway.
And ... Happy Christmas !

it was muttered about among the mods alright but we never followed up on it. In fairness it's a good idea.

A very interesting suggestion.

However the problem with Christmas is that it is a very busy time. In addition the weather can be a bit offputting, especially trying to find one's way in the dark etc.

Perhaps a BBQ in the summer months might be a suggestion. Problem is the weather can be so unpredictable it is hard to know what to do.

Just my tuppance worth anyway!!

A BBQ type event I think would be much better - no travel worries, and easier time all round. I suggest something like May or September as most are back from holidays at that point.

Yep, I like the barbecue suggestion, or at the very least something outside of the Christmas silly season. Great plan!

A BBQ in early September seems like a spiffin' idea, alright.

Initial interest is slightly encouraging.

I guess it is only early in the year.

We'll have to revisit this in May/June to see how the land lies ?

Couldn't wait to bring up the subject again.
Shall we have vinyl replay ?

especially if she promises to do the rest of her act.....
