Anyone heard of these guys? Came across them at Head-fi and they seem well regarded. The amps certainly look a lot slicker then others at this price point.

Never heard of them but it looks very reasonably priced and well made. I am sure you are aware of the import duties when purchased from the states. But even allowing for a hit there they seem reasonably priced. I got a cayin headphone amp from the states and managed to avoid most of the duty costs. I have heard the little dot mkiii amp also and it is very good. I think you can only rely on the reviews on head-fi to help aid your choice. Fran could advise you on the diy route if you have that inclination. I heard his and while the unit was fairly big I thought it sounded excellent. Best of luck with your choice

I'd love to try the DIY route but I don't have anywhere suited to it in my house unfortunately. Hadn't considered the duty. How much could I expect to have to pay?

I forget exactly but there is an excise duty charge that will be outlined on the revenue website. Add to this the postage costs and then they add 21% vat on to the total price. i.e. 300 for amp+50 for postage=350 + excise duty and then 21% vat. UPS or whoever the courier company are pay this and then bill you and add on an admin charge for handling the item. You can be lucky as sometimes the sender puts a low value on the item when posting and this helps to reduce the cost .You could be lucky and not have the item checked but doubtful imho.

If it comes via courier you will definitely pay duty etc but if it's usps then the chances of it sliding under the radar is much better. Best to allow something for it then it's a nnice bonus if it slides on in!

Chosen deliberately to garner attention, apparently.
