Just to let you know that there have been some downtime over the last day or 2 on the servers that host the forum - most will have gotten some message like the website is down or has moved etc......

As far as I can ascertain, the company that hosts the site installed a new version of the background hosting software and there have been a few kinks in it. I think that its all sorted now.....


The other thing that has been going on is that this has affected the email notification of pms and maybe thread notifications as well. So it would be no harm to check your pms.....

Hopefully this is all resolved now.

mmm. This email notification thing might be a bit more than just a simple problem. It might take a little longer to resolve......


So people, please check your pm status in the notification line up near the top of the page when you log in......

Fran, I actually had some problems with logging onto the site between around 11.00pm and midnight....I got one post finished after many attempts to log on and then I just had to abandon it.

Wondering Fran what the maintenance costs for the site are? Should you be looking for a voluntary contribution or membership fee to handle costs?

I agree with that.

Don't worry about it lads, the costs are minimal so its not even worth it to go looking for it!! We only pay for the domain name, and the hosting is bundled with that........

Email notifications of pms and thread subscriptions seems to be fixed now. The hoors moved the server from one port to another. A random internet search threw it up!!

If anyone stops seeing email notifications like this again, please do let us know.....

As regards the outages, well there may be more over the next day or so:

At least we are back on the air and we were not down for too long....but I was holding my breath!!!

We can guarantee there won't be a repeat of the inconsistencies from over a year ago. If there was an ongoing issue with the site we'd simply move to another server.

Thankfully this all seems tp have settled down nicely. Could someone please confirm that they are getting notification emails - either of pms or threads. If that's working ok I can close this out....
